I want to take time to look at the theme of Ed Week and our vision as a school division and connect them to our struggle with student attendance. The desired outcome of schooling is good jobs after high school or postsecondary. The knowledge we learn in school is important but so are the habits we create. We know that part of being a successful adult is creating predictability and security in our lives so a whole sky of choices are available to us. lLet's create good habits early to make those futures as bright as they can be. #schooleveryday

oin the Ministry of Education from October 18 to 24, 2026, as we celebrate Education Week! Education is a key component in the development and well-being of youth in Saskatchewan. This year’s theme, Big Skies, Bright Futures: Learning in Saskatchewan, encourages students and education professionals to dream big and explore new possibilities.
To celebrate Fire Prevention Week 2026, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is inviting students in Grades 3-8 to participate in this year's Fire Prevention Week poster contest. Inspired by the theme "Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower," students are challenged to create a lithium-ion battery safety superhero who helps keep people safe through battery safety.
Students can submit a drawing of their superhero, the superhero's name, along with a brief description of their special power and how it promotes lithium-ion battery safety. Entries must also include the student's name, grade, school and community. Their superhero can have any look, name and superpower you can imagine! Let’s get creative and show what battery safety looks like through the eyes of a superhero!
Please email digital entries to publiceducationspsa@gov.sk.ca. Physical entries can be mailed to 3rd Floor – 2055 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4P 2T8. Contest closes on October 31, 2026.

The Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists is excited to announce the Minister of Health, the Honourable Jeremy Cockrill, has declared October 2026 Children’s Vision Month in the province of Saskatchewan. One in four Canadian children and youth between the ages of six to 19 have a vision problem. Saskatchewan Health covers the costs of annual eye exams for all Saskatchewan residents under 18. This is a valuable health care service provided for families by the government. You can learn more about the importance of children’s vision at www.childrensvision.ca.
